Children and Braces

How early should children get dental braces and orthodontic treatment?

Once a child's permanent teeth begin to come in, it is a good time to get a consultation from your orthodontist. It is never too early to consult Dr. Kunik once your child's permanent teeth are growing in. While Dr. Kunik will begin treatment on most children between the ages of 11 and 15 years, there are certain types of cases that could benefit from earlier corrective action.

Once the adult teeth grow in Dr. Kunik can confidently advise on whether orthodontic treatment is required. Most early consultations just confirm that everything is on track. Dr. Kunik may ask that the child be brought back at a later date, to allow adult tooth growth more time to complete.

The bottom line is, when your child's adult teeth start to grow in, take advantage of Dr. Kunik's free orthodontic consultation. Dr. Kunik's expert opinion is free and your child will thank you in years to come.
