Retaining Your New Smile
When the active phase of your orthodontic treatment is finished you will want to consider wearing some type of retainer to ensure your teeth remain right where they are. Over time your teeth can drift back out of alignment. This final step is often referred to as the "retention phase". Retainers are recommended to be used to maintain the improved position of your teeth. Retainers are worn for varying amounts of time, depending on the type of tooth movements accomplished during the active phase.
The Vivera Retainer program, by Invisalign, is the best option for maintaining long-term alignment of teeth. Vivera is an option regardless of what technology Dr. Kunik used to align your teeth. A Vivera retainer is a clear removable aligner that is thicker and more durable than the Invisalign aligners themselves. A schedule on recommended wear time will be provided at the end of active treatment (i.e. nights only, few hours during day, ...) The goal is to ensure continued clinical retention as well as providing you with a cost-effective solution long-term. Vivera retainers were clearly created to fit into your busy lifestyle. They lock in your beautiful smile invisibly, whether you’re in the class room or board room-allowing you to be confident and comfortable wearing them at any time, day or night.
Unlike other traditional clear retainers, Vivera retainers are made with the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign® aligners, and use 3-D digital imaging, proprietary thermoplastic material and advanced fabrication technology. This creates a strong retainer with an extremely precise fit and smooth finish that grips firmly and feels comfortable. Vivera is the only orthodontic retainer on the market that does not require an alginate impression (mouth full of putty). Invisalign sends you 4 sets of clear retainers that are created from your final iTero scan.
